Dragon Tide: A Storm's Roar
Dragon Tide: A Storm's Roar went live two weeks ago today. The release marked the beginning of the Dragon Tide fantasy serial, which will have new instalments released on the first of each month for the next nine months. Dragon Tide originally began as a one-off (very) short story, Dragon Tide: The Rising, which now acts as the 1500-word intro or prelude to the setting. Following instalments, such as the Storm's Roar release, will be at least 6 chapters or around 35-45 pages. Why am I doing Dragont Tide and releasing it this way? Good question!
Dragon Tide chapters will mostly be short. That means I can do some of them in a day, others may take 2 or 3 days, depending on how complicated they are. Most instalments will take a week of work, and yes, that is time I won't be working on USV or other material.
So why do it?
There are a couple of reasons. One is to keep me fresh. Another is to keep me in a good habit of regular writing. The third is that the structure I'm working with for Dragon Tide, while not the same as my plans for USV, has many similarities. In that sense, Dragon Tide is part of my training, which I started back in January, for the two-year sprint through the USV timeline, which will start in just a few months. If you're waiting for USV or anything else, please know that everything will benefit from Dragon Tide. So give this blog a like or a star, perhaps buy and read it, and give it some review love, too. All of that helps encourage me to keep going, especially more likes, stars, positive comments, as well as book sales. Motivation is important. We're all busy. We all have limits on our time and energy, plus responsibilities. I'd love to just sit down and plan, research, and write USV every day, but unfortunately, it's not quite that simple. The real world makes demands, demands that cannot be ignored. My new approach, as outlined above, is about getting some writing back out there. And doing it regularly. This is about a schedule of shorter released pieces, completing series, and bringing life to some intriguing ideas.
I hope you join me for this adventure.
