USV: Patreon

My new Patreon has been live for a few weeks and has four posts up for unpaid members. All members get notifications of new posts. Two of the four posts hold new material. So far, we're working our way through USV#1: The Landing.

Paid members have also had one post so far for their eyes only. I'm not promoting the Patreon yet aside from mentioning it here and on Facebook. I'll wait until I have a fair number of posts up (and more written and ready to go to cover the months ahead).

At this stage, I'm using it (just like Dragon Tide) to lock myself into a schedule of regular instalments. It's almost like going back to my article-writing days at Australian Realms magazine! The Patreon posts follow the timeline of USV from just before the beginning of The Landing and will eventually sprint through the 1000-year timeline to get us to the United States of Vinland in 2000AD. The posts are often excerpts from longer pieces I've been building up as I flesh out the timeline. The Patreon articles will be the first outing for these pieces before most of them get published later in ebook and paperback formats. If you're interested in the United States of Vinland timeline and would like to follow it along, please go over to Patreon and sign up as a subscriber. There is a free option and various paid options (they call them tiers). Most of the subscription goes to the creator you are supporting, in this case, me.

You can find my Patreon page here.

There will be regular material for free members, but most will be based on what has already been published or shorter pieces from what is yet to be released. The real fire-cracker stuff will be paid. There is a range of paid tiers, starting from $3 US a month. On some paid tiers, I will not just be including new USV instalments but commentary on my creative decisions and writing process for those interested.

If you're going to give Patreon a try, please like and comment on posts there. Interaction helps maintain my enthusiasm and makes me feel like I'm doing this for an eager audience and not just for myself.

Some days, especially after a long day at work, some encouragement helps me open my laptop and get busy.
